Recipe of the Month

Buns
Make up at noon. Half cup lard and butter mixed, one teaspoon salt, half cup sugar, one pint scalded milk, half a yeast cake; add flour to make a thin batter.
Let rise till night, then add four teaspoons lemon, half teaspoon soda, one cup sugar, half cup currants, one mashed potato and flour.
Next day make into cakes, let rise again, then bake in a moderate oven 40 minutes.
When baked brush over top with milk and molasses mixed.
This will make 32 buns.
