6th and Present Meetinghouse 1869
The architect was Col. Fred J. Coffin and the contract for building was taken by Charles H. Hale, son of Deacon Ezra Hale. George A. Noyes and Giles Adams also became associated with the project. Charles A. Lunt, Ruth Isaksen’s and Margaret Furlong’s grandfather, worked on the building as a young man.
The dimensions were 70 x 50 besides a porch on the front and an organ loft at the rear. The height of the spire was 118 feet and the house was made to seat 600. The record says there were 192 “slips” on the floor and 28 in the gallery.
The spire was built on the floor of the church and was raised into position by Pritchard Bros., ship riggers.
