Thanksgiving Pudding
Sixteen common crackers, four eggs and two quarts milk or less, one pound raisins, salt three tablespoons sugar, half cup butter, nutmeg.
Bake in deep, buttered earthen dish.
Pound crackers, and soak with raisins overnight in half the milk.
The following noon make a custard of the remaining milk, sugar and eggs; stir in, adding butter in small pieces.
Set in a somewhat cool oven and bake several hours.
Can be kept a day or two.
When used, warm several hours in pan of hot water two to three hours.
Serve with cold sauce.
